The HandBrake Team is pleased to announce the release of HandBrake 1.7
This release focuses on improving the core HandBrake engine, including extending AV1 hardware encoding to AMD and NVIDIA users, improving performance on AArch64 (ARM) and Apple Silicon devices, added Apple VideoToolbox hardware decoding for recent Macs, updating and improving the Creator and Social "Web" presets, updating third-party contrib libraries, adding new translations and updating existing ones, and improving various aspects of the graphical interface.
Before updating, please make sure there are no pending encodes in the Queue. Please also make note of any custom presets you have created, as they may not be compatible with newer versions.
For Windows Users, please be aware that HandBrake requires Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 6. If you are unsure how to install this, please see our forum post for details.
For a full list of improvements and fixes, please see our release notes on GitHub.
